OUR BOOK THEME IS FEAR

FROM WIKIPEDIAFear from the Greek: φόβος,phóbos, meaning "fear" or "morbid fear", is a distressing negative sensation induced by a perceived threat. It is a basic survival mechanism occurring in response to a specific stimulus, such as pain or the threat of danger. In short, fear is the ability to recognize danger leading to an urge to confront it or flee from it (also known as the Fight or Flight response) but in extreme cases of fear (terror) a freeze or paralysis response is possible. Some psychologists such as John B. Watson,Robert Plutchik, and Paul Ekman have suggested that fear belongs to a small set of basic or innate emotions. This set also includes such emotions as joy, sadness, and anger. Fear should be distinguished from the related emotional state of anxiety, which typically occurs without any certain or immediate external threat. Additionally, fear is frequently related to the specific behaviors of escape and avoidance, whereas anxiety is the result of threats which are perceived to be uncontrollable or unavoidable.^[1] Worth noting is that fear almost always relates to future events, such as worsening of a situation, or continuation of a situation that is unacceptable. Fear can also be an instant reaction to something presently happening.

A-Transform tools (reflect,rotate, scale) used in conjunction with repeat transform (shortcut ⌘D)
B- Break shapes apart using the knife tool found nested with the eraser or use the pathfinder palette to combine, subtract, exclude, or intersect shapes
C- Although not often useful holding down the ~ symbol while dragging a shape will allow you to drag multipes. Notice the star as well created using this technique at the top just right of center.
D- Type along a path within a closed path. Two separate circles were used to achieve this starbucksesque logo.
E- Type has been used in this illustration on the outside of the shape path along with the word brain inside the head using the envelope distort found under the drop down menu object >envelope distort
F- In this image text has been used along an open path to mimic the shape made where the sky and mountain range meet.
G-In the center of the image notice how type within a shape has been used within a shape to "hug" the sillouhette of the pottery creating an interesting visual layout.
H- Know how to arrange objects in illustrator by moving the forward and backward in the stacking order (shortcut ⌘[ and ⌘] or ⌘ shift [ and ⌘ shift ] )
I- Once this type was converted to outlines it was transformed using the free transform tool. Once you begin scaling hold down ⌘ opt shift to alter the perspective of shapes.
J- A custom symbol was made to create the bushes in this floor plan. Once the bushes were sprayed the symbols were edited using the symbol shifter, scaler, and stainer options.
K- Use a photo reference to help create illustrations
L-Create custom patterns by simply designing your pattern then "drag" it to the swatch palette
