final project

I decided to do fan art for the first time as my final project. I chose to do fan art, because of my curiousity toward the seemingly strong feelings of hatred or love toward it. And honestly I wanted to do something less stressful aka not personal or meaningful. I concentrated mainly on Photoshop, since I feel like I am much weaker in it than Illustrator. The collage piece... frankly, I hate, but it was Photoshop practice. I started painting the gun picture in Photoshop... but I really love the flat shape Illustrator look... so ended up being that. The picture of my friends and I as the Sucker Punch cast is hilarious and was fun to make, but I don't see it as something I want to do a lot of in the future. I'm not anti-fan art, but I have little desire to make it.

I think I'm actually going to attach the birdcage to the projector like Stephany's keyhole.

New Assignment----This will be displayed on a digital billboard

Monday, 28th – Monday, 4th

Hey all you crazy artists! Hope your semester is going well.

We are looking for an effective billboard design for one of our clients, Leisure Kraft Pontunes. The winning design/s will be posted on one of our digital boards in Crossville, Tennessee.

Flynn Signs has two digital boards here in Crossville. The digitals are great because they allow us to advertise multiple clients on the same board and offer multiple designs per client. Plus, they’re bright and visually appealing.

It is important when designing any billboard to use high contrast colors, heavy/bold typefaces, and brief, but clear, wording. Remember that most people driving down the road aren’t really interested in trying to read a bunch of excess text, especially when they only have an 8-second flash in which to do it (Each design gets 8-seconds on display every loop).

Rules and Specs:

  • Designs may only include pictures provided by LKP
  • Each applicant may submit up to three (3) versions of his/her design.
  • Each design must be formatted to a 408x200 pixel jpeg image, dpi of at least 300
  • Each design must include the following information

It doesn’t matter to us what program you use to create your design, just make sure it’s saved/exported as a jpg image so we can upload it to our system.

The contest is a company facebook promotion and will run entirely on Facebook! So, go to our page, hit our Like button, and prepare to upload amazing designs!

Feel free to upload your designs along the way for critique and suggestions.
