It looks like there is no shortage to people who have done this assignment however I still think it is important as a way of sharpening your skills with the pen tool. You should have a complete understanding of how to use Illustrator from Computer Art I. Upon completion of this Portrait you should have a much more in depth knowledge of the following: pen tool, paths, path editing, gradients, and the gradient mesh tool. As it appears that this project seems to be "a trend" I would encourage you to take a long hard look at what you can bring to it to make your finished artwork stand out in a sea of vector happy meals. Consider this a skills test to measure both your creativity and knowledge of Illustrator.
